This year's advent theme is titled "Practicing Christmas." As we prepare and ready ourselves for Advent, "the Coming of Jesus Christ," we read and reflect on the biblical Christmas narratives of Jesus' arrival. Maybe there's more to these stories than Christmas productions, special worship services, and holiday ornaments and decor? Join Central as together we learn to practice the way of Jesus Christ during this Christmas season and beyond.
Practicing Christmas: Radical Hospitality
Read: Luke 2:1-7
Reflect: Bethlehem is a small town and by the time they arrive for the census, word has gotten around regarding Mary's pregnancy. Any household or Inn willing to host Mary and Joseph will face criticism or worse. This type of hospitality comes at a price. Reflect how later in Jesus' ministry he will receive and welcome sinners and outcasts in the same way his parents were welcomed in Bethlehem. How would you describe this type of
Christ-like hospitality?
Practice: During these holidays, you may have an opportunity to host friends, family, and strangers. Use this opportunity to reflect Christ's radical hospitality.
